The Wis. dispute, in garnering national coverage, has also received national support for both sides. Perhaps most interestingly, Gov. Christie of NJ has come to the aid of colleague, Gov. Walker.
Refusing to ” micromanage Wisconsin from New Jersey,” Christie has come out and said that he supports Walker, regardless of how strong his action is. (Ginger Gibson, Christie supports Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s ‘strong action’ to balance budget February 18, 2011 http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/02/gov_christie_supports_wisconsi.html)
Such vocal support on such a controversial issue, however, has not gone unnoticed. It will be interesting to see how Christie’s support affects his ultimate bid at re-election in his own state.
